Rajasthan Royals etched their name into history books when they lifted the inaugural IPL championship trophy. Since then, they have had many ups and downs. This team has groomed many youngsters throughout the many seasons of IPL. From Ravindra Jadeja to now Riyan Parag, they are known for grooming youngsters in this league of superstars.

This season, they will look to change their fortunes once again with some new faces in the squad. They got their captain “Steve Smith” back, who is also one of the best batsmen in the world right now. Smith has been superb with his tactics as captain and he is the right man to lead this team in this IPL 2020.

In the auctions leading up to the IPL, they released Ajinkya Rahane, Liam Livingstone, and Krishnnapa Gowtham from their squad. They got Robin Uthappa, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shashank Singh, Andrew Tye, David Miller, Karthik Tyagi, Manan Vohra, Rahul Tewatiya, and Mayank Markande as their new faces in this season.

Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes, and Steve Smith are three pillars of the Rajasthan Royals batting lineup. They have Sanju Samson and young new lad, Yashasvi Jaiswal too. Buttler and Jaiswal should open with Steve Smith at three. Sanju Samson can also open or play at three, it depends on Smith where he wants to play. RR’s batting line up has to be flexible without a doubt.

Because they have many top-order batsmen in their lineup, they are lacking in the finisher’s position. Ben Stokes is the only big man with whom they can persist. They have few domestic names like Mahipal Lomror and Shashank Singh. But Riyan Parag has to be their consistent performer this season. RR’s management will expect a lot from this young sensation as a

Ben Stokes, runaway match winner will lead as an all-rounder in this season for RR. His contributions with bat and ball will matter a lot. The way he performed for England in the past few months, this season has to be Ben Stokes season. There are questions on the availability of Ben Stokes so, Tom Curran is another all-rounder who can replace him. Shreyas Gopal is someone with whom RR can trust as an all-rounder.

Rajasthan Royals have enough options this season in the bowler’s category at least. Jofra Archer has to be their main bowler and he will lead this bowling attack again in this season for RR. Jayden Unadkat was quite expensive in the last few seasons but conditions in the UAE can be helpful for him. Shreyas Gopal is a match-winner with his bowling. He will be RR’s go to man with the ball in critical situations. They got Kartik Tyagi as a young pace bowler. Varun Aaron and Ankit Rajput are the other two options in pace bowling.

Mayank Markande and Shreyas Gopal can be a very impressive pair in the middle overs for RR. Andrew Tye and Oshane Thomas are other overseas options, But having Jofra in XI, they will most likely warm the bench.

So Rajasthan Royals have a pretty good and all-round bowling attack this season. They should perform well with this bowling lineup, especially in a condition like UAE. The only thing that they need to worry about is their inexperienced lower middle order. Only Stokes is a reliable option in the lower middle order.

The Rajasthan Royals overseas core will be instrumental in determining where they end up in the points table. If their overseas core are able to fire up, they can get a solution of all queries regarding team performance. Steve Smith the leader will be key for the Royals this season. I expect the Royals to finish somewhere in the middle of the table. If Buttler, Stokes and Smith along with Sanju perform well as batting units then they have a good chance to finish in the Top 4 as well. But for that, they have to give an outstanding performance as a team.
